Time hinges on the garden
Hinges of memory through a garden gate
Opens my heart to a warmth
Walk through the garden gate
Memories crawl into my heart
Joys and pleasures of a different time
Love and tender caring it used to know
As we wander to and fro,
The peril of laughter
Joyful faces, thrilled with rapture
Birds singing, butterflies hovering
The thrills of the wild in nature
Roaming freely, a glance of eye
Captures children playing
Hide and seek, listening to tunes
Of birds singing, butterflies humming

As the music, I remember the colour of music
Filling the air, with sweet music
Music to the ears of a child
Never before heard, Bees
Now in the splendour of the sun
Humming among the roses
Children trembling in excitement

Hinges of memory, created in a different time
My heart breaks as the garden, sprawls
No more children playing,
A tear shed over a now desolate garden
Of memory where hinges now creak with rust
Roses now over grown
Walk the present pathways
Pathways now quiet
No children running or playing
Walk back through the garden gate
Hinges of memory you will carry

  1. Thank you Barb for your words, although sad they are very True, memories can uplift or cause sadness and yes we can learn from the past but we need to look ahead to the Hope we have in Jesus, one day He will wipe every tear from our eyes and bring us eternal inner Joy.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

God’s abundant Blessings now and always – Christian Love dear friend – Anne.
